Redefining a city icon
With light, legacy,
And creative vision.
In 2015, HSBC’s 150th anniversary marked a lighting transformation of its Main Building — featuring an LED Media Wall, renewed atrium lights, and a refreshed façade. Soey led the project end-to-end, from design to content, revisiting the same building where she began her career in 2003.
From 2016 to 2021, Soey directed content development for the Media Wall, collaborating with award-winning creatives to craft compelling visuals that redefined the building’s nighttime presence.

WITH A VISIONARY
LIGHTING LANDMARK.
From a milestone anniversary to a city-defining icon, the HSBC Main Building underwent a dramatic lighting evolution in 2015. Led by Soey, the transformation introduced an LED Media Wall, reimagined façade lighting, and vibrant atrium illumination — all designed to echo Hong Kong’s ever-evolving skyline.
This multi-year vision extended through 2021, when Soey teamed up with award-winning creatives to craft content that brought the building to life — turning light into storytelling.
Lighting materials and finishes — from programmable LEDs to tailored façade accents — were chosen to complement the building’s architectural form while honoring its heritage and skyline identity.
